IWC stands for International Watch Co. is one of the oldest Swiss based watchmaking company that built it’s reputation for making great watches. The company was founded by an American Watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones in 1868 who was a director with E. Howard & Co. (America’s leading watchmaker at that time) with the goal of combining the craftsmanship of the Swiss with the modern engineering technology from the US. Since then the company has changed its ownership multiple times. The company was famous for making great working pocket watches in the 19th century and since then has built a reputation of making high quality wristwatches.
